Castleton VT is the first stop in Vermont on the Ethan Allen line which comes out of Albany, NY.This schedule is changing and we recommend you check the www.amtrak.com site for any updated schedules.
The Ethan Allen line is proposed to continue along the western corridor of Vermont and go to downtown Burlington. You will be able to continue your trip at this time to Rutland, Vt or continue to Albany and NYC.Stops beyond Rutland through Middlebury and Vergennes and to downtown Burlington will hopefully commence later in 2022.
The Castleton stop is located in the old Delaware and Hudson Railway station.Half of the station houses a great coffee and sandwich spot called The Depot Cafe and Bake Shop, and the other half the Amtrak station. The Depot Cafe is currently closed. This was prompted due to Covid, and the temporary closure of Amtrak travel. We are keeping tabs on this location and will update this page when updated information on a new cafe.
We suggest making prior arrangements for transportation once you arrive in Castleton. This is a fairly remote area besides having Castleton College as an anchor for the area.
If you are looking to come into Vermont and require transportation options the next stop, Rutland, has various options with public transportation and rental cars.
