Did you know that trains actually create economic opportunity and spur local economic activity?

Dallas Transit, where the Budd cars were purchased from, saw dramatic economic improvement from logically placed train stations, allowing efficient access to homes and businesses. Property values around these stations increased too.

The U.S. Department of Commerce has similar impacts to report. Every 1 dollar invested in rail attracts 10 dollars of local economic activity.

Rail Safety Week theme: Stop Track Tragedies.

While the number of highway-rail crossing collisions, deaths and injuries has dropped over the past five decades, it’s still a startling fact that about every three hours in the U.S., a person or vehicle is hit by a train. The goal of Rail Safety Week 2018 (Sept. 23-29) is to raise awareness of the need for rail safety education, and empower the general public to keep themselves safe near highway-rail grade crossings and railroad rights-of-way.

Together, we can save families and communities from enduring these heartbreaking tragedies.
